Hemichromis fasciatus pair with eggs
Hemichromis fasciatus spawned. On the small group that I started out with 6 months, the first pair as spawned today. I believe there are approximately 300 eggs. This was achieved using the incomplete divider method at present, although there is a large enough opening under the divider for both male and female to get on the other side. So far the pair remains on their respect side. I should know by Sunday evening if the egss are fertile. Considering this is the first spawn at 6 months of age I am more than happy with the results thus far. Here are some photos on the largest pair of the original group. Enjoy the pictures.

Fantastic Book of West African Cichlids

Hemichromis fasciatus fry are growing very nicely. They are starting to develop that olive green coloration in the chin and lower belly with a slight hint of that cranberry red in the operculum. I came across a new book which is a great addition to any cichlid book collection. The book is titled: The Cichlid Fishes of Western Africa by Anton Lamboj. A must for the West African cichlid hobbyist.
